do you really think the marvel franchises are THAT edgy in the first place? i don't see marvel going g-rated, so i think it'll be ok. in particular, pixar has not lost its touch after being acquired by disney.

i recently read a story about disney management and how they've dramatically moved away from the "what would uncle walt do?" mentality. this seems like smart business. i'm hoping they'll apply it to marvel.

Nrrd Riot!

From what I've seen on Facebook, the prevailing opinion among geeks (myself included) is that this is Not A Good Thing. I worry about the Disneyfication of the Marvel franchises -- e.g., Kitty Pryde has a teen crisis that gets resolved in half an hour, Wolverine saves the princess, Submariner/Little Mermaid crossover, etc.

I don't *really* think any of these scenarios would actually play out, but what I can see happening is Disney saying to Marvel, "let's make these stories more family friendly, mmm-kay?" and having them become less edgy.
