faith in humanity at an all-time low

this morning i was barraged with some great comments on an old post

the myth: i hate animals

Ok look. Whats wrong with cute cuddly animals? I LOVE ALL animals. Cute or ugly. So you say that you love animals but you aren’t a true animal lover like me unless you love ALL animals. You should know that even non-cute animals aren’t the only ones mistreated. Cuddly ones are too. I bet you wouldn’t even care if a dog, cat, hamster, ect. was about to get hit by a car. You wouldn’t help it. I would help any animal. Cute or ugly I love ALL animals unlike you.

Hi. I totally agree with you. Cute animals to get too much attention. But I see one problem. You say u love animals. i belive u its just that i wouldn’t shun cute animals. Give all animals an equal amount of love. its not their fault that their cute.

what the hell? did i get picked up on some PETA site or something?

weather.com: stop it

tomorrow is my going-away party. the original plan was to hold it on a friend’s apartment rooftop. this was to be totally fabulous and urban yuppie, sipping drinks, chatting about stimulus plans, and admiring the dc “skyline.”

however, weather.com has other plans and tells me that through the duration of my party we should expect a 30 percent chance of rain. this is terrible, mostly because 30 percent is probably the worst percentage of all. not high enough that i can be sure we should relocate, but not quite low enough to ignore its soggy portent.

even the icons are annoying:

rain

rain? lightning? or maybe sunshine? can’t decide! like an agnostic often hears, MAKE UP YOUR MIND.

all the rage at work

i’m pretty sure i have that watch.

larry page, not eric schmidt

oops. in a previous post, i mistakenly implied google chairman/ceo eric schmidt was going to be the commencement speaker at michigan’s graduation. i got my google peeps mixed up, b/c it was actually larry page who spoke. my bad.

one sentence review: not bad … for a geek.

tech guys are usually terrible speakers (craiglist’s craig newmark spoke at berkeley last year. he purposefully did not write a speech, and surprise, sucked harder than anyone i’ve ever seen in the hundreds of commencement speeches i’ve watched), but at least larry page was adorable, talking about his father and the michigan legacy that he is (page graduated from the engineering school back in the day). i don’t think page has ever been known for his oratory skills, but at least he was coherent. resounding praise, i know.

bing = hope

i’m really happy it looks like dave bing will be the next detroit mayor. from what i’ve read, he’s a smart guy and mostly outside the detroit political machine. i dont’ see why anyone involved in detroit city politics (like the terrible city council/anyone associated w/ monica conyers) should ever ascend to the top. anyway, looking forward to see what he does.

where’s alison?

michigan, for the bro’s graduation. dunno what blogging frequency will be like, but expect disruptions. gonna listen to this guy tell me inspiring things on saturday:

nerd points if you know who this is.

tim riggins = gambit?

does anyone think it’s weird that FNL’s tim riggins (taylor kitsch) is playing gambit in the wolverine movie? i guess i see it?

or not.
