i think by denigrating gossip girl, you are proving my point. go to e street theater and watch your films with subtitles and be a culture snob by yourself. i probably do mean non-natives, since they are self-selected. anyway, i said “tend to be” and didn’t necessarily mean you.

culture is culture, whether it’s pop or not. i also doubt the typical dc kids’ cultural knowledge, whether high or low–unless it will help them impress the upper crusty types.

anyway, i like blair (and chuck). manipulation is so in right now.

I agree with Jimmy. You can’t call DC “culture retarded” when you are claiming Gossip Girl as a good example of culture. As a native Washington(metro area)ian, I consider myself to be quite well versed in pop culture, including Gossip Girl and Lost (which you are really missing out on). Perhaps it is the DC immigrants who are guilty of your “cultural retardation.”

Do you like Blair better than Serena? I think I have a girl crush on them both.
